These molds are used for the resilient modulus test which provides a basic constitutive relationship between stress and deformation of pavement constluction materials.

The resilient modulus test provides a basic constitutive relationship between stress and deformation of pavement constluction materials for use in structural analysis of layered pavement systems.

The resilient modulus test provides a means of characterizing pavement construction materials, including subgrade soils under a variety of conditions (i.e. moisture, density, etc.) and stress states that simulate the conditions in pavements subjected to moving wheel loads.

A variety of equipment is required to prepare undisturbed samples for testing and to obtain compacted specimens that are representative of field conditions.

As commanded by AASTHO T307, the specimen compaction equipment includes the following split molds that meet the Height/Diameter ratio of 2:

  • A 70 mm diameter split compaction mould with 140 mm height.
  • A 100 mm diameter split compaction mould with 200 mm height.
  • A 6″ diameter split compaction mould with 381 mm minimum height.

For the compaction of soil it is possible to use the vibrating hammer T8702/A or as an alternative method, the automatic compactor T3712. For more information, see link to other products below.
