The development and improvement of in-situ test techniques better known as non-destructive test methods (NDT) are the result of the need to investigate the quality and integrity of new structures as well as problems associated with historical buildings, as the progressive aging of concrete structures and the effect of chemical attacks on concrete, often due to air pollution or to the use of chlorides in winter to prevent icing.
