Penetration

Penetration test is probably the most popular traditional test on binders since used to classify bitumen. The test evaluates the hardness of bitumen by measuring the penetration of the needle at a fixed temperature. The test can be performed with a manual digital penetrometer, with a semi-automatic model, or with a fully automatic penetrometer PIVOT, controlling both needle approach, contact, zero, and test phase.
